If you are thinking about joining Weight Watchers or have already joined – congratulations! I have been on Weight Watchers (Freestyle) now for almost 2 years and I’ve learned a lot along the way of what makes your weight loss journey a smooth one. Today, I’m going to share with you all of the best Weight Watchers cooking tools and low point food substitutions that you need to R-O-C-K your weight loss journey.
If you are one of my regular readers, you already know that I feel preparing your menu ahead of time is key to being successful with weight loss. At least for me – although it has taken me numerous times of joining WW over the years to figure it out.
Of course, loving what you eat is just as important. All of us that are sugar lovers already know using sugar substitutes save us SmartPoints. And over the years, I’ve found quite a few low point substitutes for ingredients that turn a super high recipe into one that you can have everyday without using any of your weeklies and using way less daily SmartPoints as well.

Weight Watchers COOKING Tools & LOW POINT FOOD SUBSTITUTionS You Need TO ROCK YOUR WEIGHT LOSS JOURNEY
Best Weight Watchers Cooking Tools
If you make Chinese recipes on Weight Watchers, or enjoy using sesame seeds like in this recipe, you’ll want this sesame seed roasting pan. A lot of recipes call for adding toasted sesame seeds to a recipe or a small amount of roasted nuts. This handheld Seed/Nut Roasting Pan saves time by not having to do the roasting in the oven and then possibly overdoing the toasting – like I’ve been known to do. You simply put in the seeds/nuts, cover with the mesh lid and roast on the stove over low heat. Sort of like roasting a marshmallow while camping. It can also roast spices and herbs too.
If you want to save time cooking meals or doing meal prep, you need this Vidalia Chop Wizard. It chops everything from onions to zucchini to eggs for egg salad. You can chop items in 2 sizes and store them in the refrigerator in the container. This is also top dishwasher safe and comes with a cleaning tool if you prefer to handwash it.
This is one of my favorite kitchen tools besides my Slow Cooker and Instant Pot. If you aren’t familiar with air fryers, they give foods a deep fried taste while eliminating the need for oil. Not to mention, foods get cooked quicker too.
Some of my favorite Weight Watchers recipes to make in my Big Boss Air Fryer are:
Weight Watchers Freestyle Air Fryer Peachy Rum Wings
Weight Watchers Freestyle Air Fryer Jalapeno Pepper Poppers
WW Freestyle Air Fryer Fried Eggplant
WW Freestyle Air Fryer Lemon Slice Sugar Cookies

This is the exact air fryer that I use. I’ve had it for a couple years now and paid $120 for it. The price has come down quite a bit since then. But, what I wanted to add is that this is a BIG air fryer. You might want to start with something smaller like this air fryer. We keep our Big Boss out on the countertop since we use it so much. So, if you have the counterspace or a place to store it, get the Big Boss. It can make a lot of Peachy Rum Wings and Jalapeno Pepper Poppers at one time!
Mandolin Vegetable Slicer/Spiralizer
If you like zoodles or want a quicker way to slice or julienne your vegetables, grate carrots and cheeses and make vegetable ribbons or zoodles, then get this Mandolin Slicer/Spiralizer. It makes quick time of slicing, dicing, grating and spiralizing vegetables. And you can store your cut items in the container itself. Also, it’s dishwasher safe too.
This is the food scale that I have used for quite a long time. It’s super cheap, accurate and small enough that it fits in my drawer. It even comes with batteries.
I got the Instant Pot last Christmas and I’ve never looked back. If you are on the fence about getting one, do it – you won’t be disappointed. This tool can do so many things – so much faster. If you forget to take meat out for dinner, you can put it in the Instant Pot frozen and it’ll be done beautifully in no time. My Instant Pot is a 6 quart pot and I find that it’s more than enough for our family and then some. Some of our favorite meals made in the Instant Pot are:
Weight Watchers Instant Pot Cheesy Broccoli Egg Souffles
Weight Watchers Instant Pot Jambalaya
WW Instant Pot Cajun Shrimp & Grits
WW Instant Pot Spicy Deviled Eggs
Weight Watchers Instant Pot Juicy Hoisin Meatballs

If you love frittatas or omelets, you need this pan. This is a nonstick Frittata pan that will make your frittatas extremely fluffy. This pan is perfect for making omelets that are evenly cooked too. When I did omelets in a regular pan, the outside rim would cook quickly, but the inside would never set correctly. This pan takes care of that – everything cooks evenly – and it’s dishwasher safe. You never need any oil or butter, just nonstick cooking spray to coat the pan. This especially keeps SmartPoints super low.
Some of my favorite Weight Watchers Frittatas to make in this pan are:
Weight Watchers Freestyle Easy Cheesy Frittata
Weight Watchers Freestyle Zucchini Feta Frittata
WW Freestyle Spinach & Portobello Mushroom Frittata
WW Freestyle Instant Pot Cheesy Potato Frittata

The Best Indoor/Outdoor Griller Ever
Now that summer is over, most people won’t be grilling outside as much anymore. But that doesn’t mean you can’t still get the flavor and appearance of grilled foods. Even though we grill year round in Florida, it rains frequently. So this past summer, after another dinner time downpour, we made London Broil on this Hamilton Beach Indoor/Outdoor Smokeless Grill. I was going to try the air fryer, but decided instead to use our indoor grill. The result? Perfect tender delicious London Broil. I’ve grilled vegetables on it too since I’m not the grillmaster in our house. Everything was fantastic and this indoor grill is inexpensive for a large size grill too and it’s dishwasher safe.
Quiche Pan with Removable Bottom
If you follow WW Freestyle, you know that eggs are a 0 Point food. I eat eggs at least 3 times a week. And, when I make eggs for all of us, my go to recipe is usually a quiche. And I always use this inexpensive quiche pan with a removable bottom. It makes the quiche super easy to cut and the egg doesn’t get stuck in the pan.
Here are my favorite Weight Watchers quiche recipes I use that come out beautifully in this pan:

WW Freestyle Crustless Bacon & Cheese Quiche
Best Weight Watchers Low Point Food Substitutions
Substitute an 8″ Flour Tortilla (5 Points) ⇒ Ole eXtreme Wellness High Fiber Low Carb Tortilla (1 Point). These freeze beautifully too. Simply put into a freezer storage bag to keep for later use. Two 8″ flour tortillas would be a total of 10 Points and 2 Ole Xtreme Tortillas are only 2 Points!
Here are some Weight Watchers Freestyle recipes that use these low point tortillas:
Enchilada Casserole – 3 Points per huge serving
Mexican Taco Salad Cups – 1 Point per serving
Creamy Chicken Enchiladas – 2 Wraps for 6 Points
Slow Cooker Soft Chicken Tacos with Pineapple Salsa – 3 Points per huge serving
Taco Salad in an Edible Bowl – 4 Points
Mile High Mexican Lasagna – 2 Points per massive serving
Spicy Black Bean Chicken Enchiladas – 3 Points for 2 Enchiladas
If you are a fan of Chai Tea and order it at Starbucks with Nonfat Milk in the Grande size, save yourself the money and 11 Points. Instead make it at home with fat free milk and enjoy 16 ounces of it (or more) for only 3 Points using this delicious Sugar Free Chai Latte by Oregon Chai. I enjoy this every day and look forward to it in the afternoon. I’ve tried it hot and it’s fantastic cold over ice.

Lots of recipes call for using honey as a healthier alternative to sugar. But I found a fantastically delicious sugar free honey substitute to use in recipes called Nature’s Hollow Sugar Free Honey Substitute. A tablespoon of honey is 4 SmartPoints compared to 1 SmartPoint per tablesoon of Nature’s Hollow. Here are recipes that I’ve used this honey substitute in and they were delicious:
WW Skinny Version of Chili’s Caribbean Chicken Salad
Weight Watchers Slow Cooker Honey Sriracha Chicken
Weight Watchers General Tso’s Chicken
On WW Freestyle, ground turkey breast is 0 Points. So, basically you can make a mega sized ground turkey burger for 0 Points. But when you put your burger on a bun, your points can go up to 8 points just for a hamburger bun. Not anymore! I get the 1 Point SmartBuns. They are large, delicious sesame seed topped hamburger buns. And they freeze beautifully too. Now I can have 2 massive Ground Turkey Burgers for 2 Points. Win-Win! Here are my favorite meals that I put on SmartBuns:

WW Slow Cooker Korean Pulled Pork
WW Remake of the Barefoot Contessa Niman Burger
Weight Watchers Remake of the Pioneer Woman’s Dr. Pepper Shredded Chicken
Do you like chocolate chips on your sugar free pudding, Apple Nachos or in your sugar free cocoa? If so, you can save at least 2 SmartPoints and have 13 Lily’s No Sugar Added Dark Chocolate Chips for 0 Smartpoints. And they are so delicious too. I keep them stored in the freezer and have been known to grab them between meals. Just sayin’.
If you’re like me, you like cheese. I love to put parmesan cheese in or on everything from salads to popcorn. But at about 6 Points for 1/2 cup of Parmesan Cheese, to me it’s too many points to use for just a “topping”. But did you know that there is a super low point alternative to grated Parmesan Cheese that is not only a clone in taste but super nutritional too? I heard about Nutritional Yeast when my husband started Keto. I tasted it and was transformed. Compared to 6 Points for a 1/2 cup of grated Parmesan Cheese, if you substitute with Nutritional Yeast, in a recipe it’s only 3 Points. But, here’s the great part, you don’t need as much Nutritional Yeast in a recipe as you would Parmesan Cheese. So you save even more Points. Plus it’s great for you!

If you love the taste of ground beef but are kinda new to using ground turkey breast, here is the best way to get it to taste like ground beef. Simply add in Kitchen Bouquet Browning & Seasoning Sauce. I add about 3 teaspoons per 1lb of ground turkey breast. It taste delicious and is only 1 Point. If you use 1 teaspoon, it’s 0 Points. Try it if you like a more “beefy” flavor.
Do you enjoy barbecue sauce or making Barbecued Pulled Chicken? Just using 1 cup of barbecue sauce will cost you 8 Points or more. But if you use G. Hughes Sugar Free Barbecue Sauce, it will only cost you 2 Points per cup. And for it being sugar free, you’ll never notice the difference. And it comes in a variety of barbecue flavors too.

I’m sure you will be doing some baking on WW and my favorite 0 Point sweeteners are all by Swerve. They include a Granulated Sugar Substitute, a Brown Sugar Substitute and my favorite, a Confectioner’s Sugar Substitute. And they are all 0 Points per cup. The points you are saving are huge. And everything by Swerve is fantastic too.
