Air Fryer Chicken Fried Steak with Country Gravy | Healthy Dinner Recipes
Ingredients
For the Cubed Steak
- 1 LB Cubed Beef Steak (Cut into 4 Portions)
- 1/4 Cup Whole Wheat Flour
- 2 Large Eggs Beaten Lightly
- 2 Tbl Cornmeal
- 2 Tbl Cornstarch
- 1 Tsp Smoked Paprika
- 1/2 Tsp Each - Pepper and Salt
- Vegetable Cooking Spray
For The Country Gravy
- 1 Cup Fat Free Beef Broth
- 2 Tbl Each - Water and Cornstarch
- 1/3 Cup Fat Free Half and Half
- Salt/Pepper to Taste
- Dried Parsley, Thyme or Chives, to taste
Instructions
- Preheat your air fryer to 375°F (190°C). In a shallow bowl, mix together the whole wheat flour, cornmeal, cornstarch, paprika, salt, and pepper.
- Dredge each piece of cubed steak in the flour mixture, then dip it into the beaten egg, and coat it again in the flour mixture. Make sure each steak is evenly coated.
- Lightly spray the coated cubed steaks with cooking spray to help them crisp up in the air fryer. Place the coated cubed steaks in a single layer in the air fryer basket, ensuring they're not overcrowded.
- Cook the cubed steaks in the air fryer for about 10-12 minutes, flipping halfway through the cooking time, until they are golden brown and cooked through.
- While the cubed steaks are cooking, prepare the creamy gravy. In a small saucepan, whisk together the beef broth and 1 tablespoon of the cornstarch until smooth, then heat over medium heat until the mixture begins to simmer.
- In a small bowl, mix together the water and remaining cornstarch until smooth. Stir the cornstarch mixture into the simmering broth and cook, stirring constantly, until the gravy thickens, about 2-3 minutes.
- Add in the fat-free half-and-half, continue to cook for an additional minute, seasoning with salt, pepper and dried herbs to taste. Once the cubed steaks are done in the air fryer, serve them hot with the creamy gravy drizzled on top.
- This makes 4 servings. Each serving is 1 Steak with 1/4 Cup Gravy and it is 6 WW Points. Enjoy!
