This week we did it again!  We stayed well under $100 for our weekly food budget. Listed below you will find our $71 weekly meal plan & grocery haul for our family of 3 for the week of September 4, 2017.  Our exact total was $71.14. This week we shopped two stores: Save-A-Lot and Publix.
Our freezers are overstuffed with different meats from great deals over the last few months  And this week I added to our meat tally with a huge slab of ribs and a large package of boneless chicken breasts. Actually with the threat of Hurricane Irma hitting next weekend, we actually have to start eating what is in our freezers in case we lose power during the storm.
Also, keep in mind that the $71.00 food total serves us well over 21 meals including 6 days of my husband’s separate breakfasts AND 5 days of my son’s school lunches. As a result, it is a total of about 32 meals.
REMEMBER THAT IN ORDER TO KEEP OUR GROCERY BILL SUPER LOW WE DO THE FOLLOWING:
1. Shop at different stores. Â We mainly shop at Publix but also frequent Aldi, Save-A-Lot, Winn-Dixie or Walmart when meat sales are good.
2. Our son is also a picky eater and does not eat the same meals as us different times during the week.
3. We stock up on beverages, snacks, staples etc. when we have extra money available or especially when there is not a great sale on meat.
4. I do make quite a few items from scratch.  Especially snacks for my son’s lunch, bread, muffins, soups, sauces, etc.
5. We do not include non-edible items in our grocery bill. When I do our weekly meal plan and grocery list, I do not include trash bags, dish soap or laundry detergent etc. on our list.
6. We follow all the steps outlined here, here and here.
Below is what our weekly meal plan for breakfast, lunch and dinner will be this week.

Wow!…this is so detailed. I’m terrible at planning out meals throughout the day. We kind of go with whatever we have on hand for breakfast and lunch and I put more thought into dinner. I like your approach!
